Foolishly
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009I listened to Today is the Day this morning. I couldn’t piece together ideas last night. I wrote individual words down on paper. Repeated these and others in my head. Saw Jeff Scher’s The Shadow’s Dream. Turned my head upside-down. Then remembered the EP version of the song. Figured out a workable combination. The vial and its mixture. I had to stop the song to sound out the words.
Scraping Past
Friday, September 11th, 2009A quick one for the morning. Was too tired to write last night after dinner. Fell asleep on my side. A combination of pot, long drive home & good food. Managed to compile a good set of photos this morning. The bicycle kids and their blown-up heads. The yellow metals and red cranes. A piece of colored pencil art. What seems to either be a shot of the morning or evening commute. And a cool photo of my main man, Colin. Because at some point in time, every guy wanted to be him. His long mutton chops or wear his cozy sweaters.
And When You Let It…

It’s Wong Kar-wai’s birthday today. And for those of you not familiar with his work, I suggest you check his films out. His films are great for those rainy day, phaseout times. I have to celebrate his birthday because it’s one of those things that brought a. and I closer together. His films have got a good pace to them.
We’ve been thinking about writing a letter to K. Drew… a special thank you note for all the good things their music has brought to us. I’ve been a music lover all my life and I still remember the day I first discovered BSS. For me it was on one of those Friday night’s where I didn’t want to go anywhere. I was still in high-school then and in that soul-searching mode. But that night, cooped up under my favorite red blanket between 1-2AM, I was watching The Wedge – an all-indie hour on Much Music… and yeah, I don’t know if they still have this show on anymore, but back then that was the only hour when you would find some decent music. All I know is that I was all scrunched up under that blanket, my head probably leaning on a forty-five degree angle against the wall… and on comes this scratchy video with the wavy, faded voice and heavy bass, clapping… I didn’t know what to make of it, but on that day I fell in love with music. And I knew it in my heart and I followed it. It brought me here and I became a romantic when it came to all things and the world was all of a sudden fucking beautiful and sometimes just really horrible, but what I began to understand were the little things. And those little things are for me, the greatest things. And this is why I am thankful for BSS because it brought me a love for all things, not just music, but fucking everything… I don’t swear much, but even that word fucking became a romantic thing. So that’s the story. I fell in love with music, with a girl, with the world. It’s a really beautiful thing. I could go on… but here is that video that was my rebirth to love…
Meet Me As Soon As You Can
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009I read about Charles Mingus on née today. The messy way Mingus plays the keys of the piano reminds me of that Jon Brion song, ‘Phone Call’ from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
