What do I think about when I’m running? I think about the tall eucalyptus trees or the bright magenta bougainvillea that we’re passing through. The small neighborhoods that are more like forests. It felt so simple. We constantly repeated this song and it went well, along with its cool, gray and sometimes windy mornings… the more personal weather (like you always described) that pave the way for the all-weather. It’s funny sometimes. I was sitting outside on the bench this morning and my mind was still at that running pace. Then something hit me and there was this particular kind of music that I wanted to listen to. My mind is taking a break. I’ve been listening to Stereolab this morning. And I’m taken back to those quiet, canopied streets. We’re walking to breakfast. The sun’s come out. The Mexican people are happy and they greet us. They think I’m Mexican.

Like the door behind us then, the way we walk with our hands. And suddenly in our room, on the bed to lay it down easy.

There are a couple of songs that I can’t stop thinking about: ‘Armistice’ by Phoenix and ‘Peng! 33′ by Stereolab, which. Iron & Wine covers. And when you’ve strung together the simplest words you can build the song onto anything and in this song in particular, the words follow the shadows of claps until you find yourself trolling to planted herbs beside the window.

Listening to ‘Kitsuné Tabloid’ By Phoenix, while eating second breakfast. And as I’m reading, the word ‘mariposa’ pops into my head and I’m suddenly swimming passed the thought of the sweetbread. I remember ‘Rafaga!’ and my head is back walking across the old paint, watching over the basil and playing with the pith of the tangerine.

I just had second breakfast: two pieces of choco-late bread, toasted. Then I stumbled onto Banque de France and listened to some Phoenix deposits. It’s a good start to the morning. I miss you and the weekend.

Well, I thought there would be a better time and better ways to waste our time. But we can wait a little more.

The light came out of nowhere and you looked so pretty. Sometimes I wish we could pull these things off on weekdays because to begin again early in the morning and to leave that bed is hard. If only I could wrap our weekends around ourselves like an escarpment… an escarpment overshadowed by canopies in the height of it all.

I always expect my heart to be broken when it comes to Chelsea. But I keep following, match after match, weekend or weekday fixture. And in my romance with this club, I feel I’m more in love with the heartache part of it. My exhausted shirt and its pitiful crest, once again folded, but will be ready again for another match when it comes. Ninety-two minutes… Iniesta… why did you have to leave it so late?
