A. and I joined the Y on Saturday. At first, I hated the thought of joining the gym, but I really enjoyed working out at this facility. It’s so clean and the atmosphere is really great. Now, my entire body is sore even though I kept telling myself I wouldn’t push it on our first day.

The long weekend was fun, sad that it’s all over. It began with a rainy day, listening to M83’s “Raconte-Moi Histoire” on my way to pick up my A. at Ossington. Jeans all soaked, Justin Bieber cardboard cut-out smiling from inside the Shoppers, new haircuts and a ramen date at Kenzo’s later on that night. Visited the new Sonic Boom location, wished I was rich and could buy all those records. And then some burnt marshmallow and French mint ice cream at Bakerbots to fill my sweet tooth.

We took a tour of the Y, signed up in a jiffy and got our photos taken for membership cards (for some reason I typed ‘marshmallow cards’ at first). We drove west, looked for thrift shop treasures, got an old bench for our kitchen, re-arranged our kitchen, got rid of a lot of stuff from our kitchen, relaxed on the couch, had dinner with family, did more shopping, visited our favourite bookstores, did the Kenzo ramen thing again…

Then there was a chill in the air, lots of people wearing their autumn gear, lots of kids savouring their last bit of summer freedom, Cherie’s to look for presents, crazy woman screaming and asking for the time, downloading True Blood, watching True Blood, chasing cats around the apartment, eating big slices of birthday cake, wishing for iPhones. Listening to my dad asking if there’s any new Pawn Stars, taking long walks, watching the bounce of your new bangs, seeing new babies and not knowing how to properly pronounce their names (congrats to B&C).. and more, always more.

Here is the link to the Polaris Preview/Interview I did with guitarist/lead-singer Raphaelle Standell-Preston of Braids on BlogTO. And here’s the Tasseomancy record review I wrote for The Rumpus.
