A sort of wildness August 10, 2011

I featured an interview with one of my favourite local illustrators Melinda Josie on The Iceberg today. It’s an honour to have her on the site, not because of her popularity around here in Toronto and in a lot places around the world, but because she’s just a really lovely lady who makes amazing works of art.

And just in case you were wondering where the title for the interview comes from, I actually borrowed it from “The Wide Net” by Eudora Welty. You can read the entire passage below:

“At the single streak of flight, the ears of the race horse lifted, and the eyes of both horses filled with the soft lights of sunset, which in the next instant were reflected in the eyes of the men too as they all looked into the west toward the heron, and all eyes seemed infused with a sort of wildness.” (p.86)
